１週間前、山に秋の匂いが訪れた。
それは、ここにいるつもりだと、私にささやいた。
私はこの季節が大好きだ。夏の喧噪のあとの穏やかな静けさ。
蜂もそのことを知って、夏の花の最後の香りを集めようと慌ただしく動きはじめる。
今年の冬は厳しい冬になるかもしれない。

過去40年間で最大の台風によって、私たちの山道の五カ所が流された。
でも私たちは、大量の石を手で除け、無鉄砲に軽トラを走らせて娘のルーを学校に送り届けた。あれはなかなか面白かった！　学校には２時間遅刻したけれど。

昨日、有機在来種のソバの種をひとすくいと、野生のニンニクの種を一袋もらった。おばあちゃんが畑を見せてくれて、くれたものだ。「来年、同じだけのソバを持ってきてよ」帰りがけに彼女は言った。そうしよう。

F1種なしでどうやって60億人の食糧をまかなえるか？
それは可能だ。プラネットガーデニングこそが、その方法だ。
もし庭がないのなら、SOL在来種有機ガーデナーにあなたの食糧を育ててもらうように頼んだらいい。それは可能だ。
戦時中でもヨーロッパやアメリカではそうしていた。大量の食糧が家庭で育てられ、各地域で庭の柵越しに交換されていた。種は保存されたり交換されたりして、人々はどんどん健康になっていった。痩せてはいたが、健康だった。そう、隣近所の住人同士が会話をしていたんだ！　みんなもっといきいきしていた。食糧の輸送などする必要もなく、石油も必要なかった。
それは可能なのだ。

ぜひ今年、実行に移そう。各家庭のペットボトル畑から始めよう。またはベランダや畑、隣の人の畑で。または道路の真ん中の一区画の土で！　それは可能です。

SOL会員の特別セミナーにぜひ参加して欲しい。例えば高知では毎月「プラネット・ガーデン」のワークショップがある。あなたの地域でも人を集めて「プラネット・ガーデン」のワークショップを開いてみてはどうだろう。

今年、SOLは日本大豆をもっと集め、もっと広めていきたい。味噌や豆腐、納豆をみんんなで一緒に作ろう。種、ストーリー、そしてそれぞれの風味を交換し合おう。
ここにもビールとよく合う大豆があるけれど…
翌シーズンに人々にあげられるように、私はぐっと堪えて、これらの大豆を食べずに蒔く。

私の願いはただ一つ、SOL会員のみなさんに、それぞれ2人ずつ、新しい会員を紹介して欲しいということ。2人だけ。この小さな始まりから、次世代の食を大きく変革するために必要な人々を集めていこう。永遠の変革のために。
それは可能だ。

山のように考え、葉っぱのように生きよう。

The smell of Autumn came to the Mountain a week ago.
It whispered it was here to stay.
I love this season.  It is smooth, calm after the business of summer.
Even the bees know it and slowly bustle to gather the last scents of summer blooms.  It may be a hard winter.

Our mountain road was washed away in five places by the worst typhoon in 40 years.  But we still got Ruadh to school by hand moving tonnes of stones and daredevil k-truck driving.  Ha!  It was fun.  But she was 2 hours late.

I was handed a scoop of organic heritage soba seed and a bag of wild garlic seeds yesterday.  The grandmother showed me her garden and gifted them to me.  Give me back the same amount of soba next year, she called as we left.
I will.

How do we feed 6 billion humans without F1 seeds?
It can be done.  Planet Gardening is the method.  Contract a SOL organic heritage seed gardener to grow your food for you if you do not have a garden space yourself.  It can be done.
It was done during the wars in Europe and America.  Huge amounts of food were home grown.  They were exchanged amongst communities, over garden fences.  Seeds were preserved and exchanged, people got healthier, thinner but healthier.  People actually talked to their next door neihbours!  They became more alive.  Food transportation was not needed.  Gasoline was not needed. 
It can be done.

Lets do it this year.  Lets start in our own pet bottle farms.  Or on our balconies, or gardens or next doors garden  Or the patch of soil in the middle of the road!  It can be done.

Join one of the SOL member special seminars.  Like the Monthly Planet Garden workshops in Kochi.  Collect members and open a Planet Garden workshop in your area.

This year SOL will further collect and disperse Japan soya bean seeds.  Lets make miso and tofu and natto together.  Lets exchange seeds and stories and flavours.

Im going to excercise great restraint and NOT eat them but save them to seed to give away next season. 

All I ask is for each SOL member to introduce 2 new members.  Only two.  From this small beginning, we will gather enough people to support a big change in our kids food!  Forever.
It can be done.
